Things To Do In Salou
If you’re visiting Salou there is plenty to keep everybody occupied for days.
There is endless sight seeing to do, long walks, beautiful beaches, typical Spanish restaurants that can be much cheaper than what you’ll find in the main centre.
Salou has an excellent touristic train that will take you on a tour of the main attractions. Beautiful roman architecture can be seen in many places in Salou. You are also guaranteed a fun filled day out at PortAventura World Theme Park which is one of the main attractions in Salou.
Here you will find 25 fun things to do in Salou in no particular order of choice.
1. Llevant Beach ( Platja de Llevant)
Platja de Llevant is the main beach in Salou. It runs for 1200 meters beside the main promenade. There is plenty of free playgrounds, handball nets etc along the beach that will keep kids and big kids occupied. There are toilet facilities all along the promenade, disabled access to the beach isn’t a problem.
Pedal boats, Jet Ski’s, Parasol rides etc can be hired along the beach.
The waters are shallow and calm which makes them ideal for swimming.
Llevant beach can get very crowded in high season, if you walk a little bit toward Cambrils you will find Ponent Beach.
2 – Ponent Beach ( Platja Ponent )
Platja Ponent is a beautiful beach just at the other side of the marina from Llevant beach, towards Cambrills. There isn’t as many facilities as in Llevant beach but the crowds are much smaller.
The beach has 1115 meters of fabulous golden sands, toilets facilities and play parks. There is also some beach bars, one of which is also a restaurant. If you are finding the crowds in Llevant a little bit too much to handle, Ponent is the place to go.
3 – Coastal Path / Boardwalk
We always take some time out when in Salou to stroll along the coastal path. We normally start at the marina and continue along the promenade in the direction of cap Salou. There is a beautiful board walk between Llevant beach and Capellans beach which lies at the Cap Salou side of Llevant beach. When you reach Capellans beach there is some steps to climb to get to the top but the views are amazing if you can make it that far.
The path continues to the lighthouse in Cap Salou but parts are natural and unpaved and may not be suitable for the young or elderly. There is plenty of photo opportunities available along the coast. This costal path is definitely worth at look.
4 – House Of Illusion
Situated on the beach front on the promenade, House of Illusion is a magic show.
They provide food and drinks in a magical atmosphere. We went to visit twice over the last few years and we were not disappointed. The magicians are all amazing, very friendly and will entertain you before the show with card tricks and some magic. On our last visit we waited in the bar for an hour before the theatre doors were open, as there was a delay but this time went quickly as there was great entertainment provided.
They get their audience involved, bringing people on stage for more entertainment and fun. Overall it was a brilliant performance. In the meantime the staff look after each table very well, topping up the jugs and drinks. An endless supply of juice, fizzy drinks, beer and wine. The food served shortly after we were seated was chicken drumsticks and chips.
A photographer offers to take your photo mid show, which they can also place in key rings if you want to take home a memory of your night.
End of Show
They were also ready to meet their audience when the show was over to say hello and shake your hand or take a picture as you leave the theatre.
There are taxi’s available across the road from the venue, which we thought was very convenient as it was dark when the show was over. An excellent place to spend an evening or night and it is suitable for all ages.
